The Inner Universe and the Light of Hope
No matter how deep the darkness, never lose hope, for as long as hope remains, light will eventually break through. The moon shining in the dark night sends you a message: one who is held by Allah is never truly alone, even in the blackest of nights. Allah leads them to the bright morning, giving light to the night of their life. Your duty is to hold firmly to His rope, stay steadfast, and act upon His guidance. The morning you long for will surely come, and you will find yourself bathed in the light of nearness to your Lord.
When the soul resided with Allah, it was engrossed in His vision. But when Allah sent this spiritual being to the world to test its recognition of Him, He placed the veil of nafs (self) between His divine light and the human being.
The test of humanity lies in breaking through the barriers of worldly desires and freeing oneself from the snares of the nafs to attain recognition and vision of Allah. The divine light of Allah's presence is the sacred trust hidden within the heart of man. Regarding this trust, Allah says:
"We offered the trust to the heavens and the earth, but they refused to bear it, being afraid of it. But man bore it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant to his true self."
Contentment emerges from within, just as the lashings of conscience arise from within. Joy blossoms like a bud from within, and tears cascade like waterfalls from within. The volcanic eruption of fear occurs within, and the streams of peace flow from within. So, what lies outside? Nothing. Your universe is compressed within you. Why do you wander, searching for it outside?
