The Story of Abdullah bin Salam (RA) and His Acceptance of Islam
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
"Do you know how a Jewish scholar, Abdullah bin Salam (RA), came to believe in the truth of Islam? What were the three questions whose answers only a Prophet could provide? Today, we will share the inspiring details of this incident."
When Abdullah bin Salam (RA) heard about the arrival of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Madinah, he came to meet him and said, "I will ask you three questions that only a Prophet can answer. What is the first sign of the Hour? What will be the first food given to the people of Paradise? And why does a child resemble its father at times and its mother at other times?"
The Prophet (PBUH) replied, "Jibreel (Gabriel) has just informed me of their answers." Upon this, Abdullah (RA) remarked, "Jibreel is the enemy of the Jews." The Prophet (PBUH) continued, "The first sign of the Hour will be a fire that will gather people from the east to the west. The first food that will be served to the people of Paradise will be the caudate lobe of a fish's liver. As for why a child resembles one parent over the other, when a man approaches his wife, if his fluid precedes hers, the child will resemble him. If her fluid precedes his, the child will resemble her."
Hearing this, Abdullah bin Salam (RA) immediately declared, "I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah." He further added, "O Messenger of Allah, the Jews are a deceitful people. If they come to know about my acceptance of Islam beforehand, they will falsely accuse me."
The Prophet (PBUH) then invited some Jews and asked, "What is your opinion about Abdullah bin Salam?" They replied, "He is the best among us and the son of the best among us. He is our greatest scholar and the son of our greatest scholar." The Prophet (PBUH) asked, "What if he accepts Islam?" They said, "May Allah protect him from this." At that moment, Abdullah (RA) came out and declared, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His true Messenger." Upon hearing this, the Jews immediately began accusing him and said, "He is the worst of us and the son of the worst of us," and they started speaking ill of him.
Dear viewers, the inspiring story of Abdullah bin Salam (RA) is a remarkable example of the search for truth and the acknowledgment of Islam's authenticity. It teaches us that recognizing the truth requires knowledge, awareness, and sincere effort.
