"Where is Allah? – A Story of Faith and Test of Patience"

"Where is Allah? – A Story of Faith and Test of Patience"

Once, Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) was in the desert near Medina with his companions, having a meal. A shepherd passed by, and Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) invited him to join them.

The shepherd replied, "I am fasting."

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) was surprised and said, "It’s so hot, and you’re fasting while also herding the sheep?"

To test the shepherd’s integrity and piety, Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) asked, "Can you sell us one of these sheep? We will pay for it and give you some meat so you can break your fast."

The shepherd replied, "These sheep are not mine; they belong to my master."

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) then said, "Tell your master that a wolf ate one of the sheep."

The shepherd, in anger, pointed towards the sky and said, "Then, where is Allah?"

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) kept repeating the shepherd’s words, "Where is Allah? Where is Allah?" and cried as he reflected on the statement.

When Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) returned to Medina, he met the shepherd's master, bought the sheep, and freed the shepherd. He also gave him the sheep and said, "Your one sentence has freed you. I pray that Allah also frees you from the fire of Hell on the Day of Judgment."
