The Consequences of Sin

The Consequences of Sin

My father used to tell a story:

One night, a man committed a terrible sin in a graveyard. The king of that time, who was a pious man, had a dream. In the dream, a man dressed in white told him about the sinner and instructed him to bring the man to the royal court and appoint him as the king’s special advisor. The king woke up confused.

The king sent soldiers to the place mentioned in the dream. They found the man there, and he became very afraid, thinking his death was near. He was taken to the king, who told him about his crime and declared him his new advisor.

The next night, the king had another dream. He asked the man in white why he was told to promote a sinner. The man explained, “God disliked his sin, but since his time of death had not come, God wanted him to live in luxury so he would never regret his sin or ask for forgiveness. His punishment in the afterlife is already decided. He will live in pleasure and believe he has succeeded.”

The king realized that this man would remain lost in luxury and sin, thinking he had achieved success.

My father then gave me this advice: “When sins become easy and there is no punishment, understand that the doors of repentance have closed, and your afterlife is in danger.”

This is a warning for us. Today, many people commit sins again and again without feeling guilty. Some even take pride in their actions. At first, the heart may feel fear or discomfort—that is faith trying to stop you. Listen to it before it’s too late.
